A slightly crazy dream

L'Adresse Hotel Boutique was born from a slightly crazy dream of its owners, Romain and Clara, one evening in Paris in 2011: “What if we moved abroad and opened a hotel?”
One move to Buenos Aires later, there we were, fighting the local administration for all kinds of building permits, proud to have found a wonderfully charming ruin, full of cracks and potential, in the heart of the vibrant, historic San Telmo district.
Built in 1889, the house was home to a wealthy family who, like their affluent neighbours, fled the yellow fever epidemic of the late 19th century. It then became a conventillo, where up to twenty families lived for almost a century. The second floor was added in 1960. In the late 1980s the house became a squat and was stripped of its finest features: fireplaces, wooden floors, mouldings, chandeliers, marble.
After some ten years of total abandonment, we fell in love with the house in 2012. Construction finally began in August 2013.
A real challenge: everything had to be redone while keeping the spirit of the house and saving everything that could be saved — cement tiles, wooden doors and windows, the marble staircase, ironwork. After two and a half years of hard, dusty work, the vision we had on our first visit finally took shape: modern comfort combined with old-world charm, casa chorizo architecture with our Parisian taste, attentive service and a warm family welcome.
In the southern autumn of 2016, L'Adresse opened its doors to welcome you to our home, your home, in Buenos Aires. It took us five years to perfect this hotel; we hope it takes you only five minutes to love it.
